This is one café you may have completely missed out as you are doing your shopping at Orchard Road, a plant-based wellness cafe nestled within Porcelain Origins at The Paragon.
Even though I knew it was located on Level 4, it took me a while finding the shop was it was hidden in a corner (for your ease of finding, it is next to XZQT Portfolio, diagonally opposite Kanada-Ya.)
The café serves up pretty-looking smoothie bowls, which may remind you of @Naturally.jo – the young vegan Instagrammer known for posting ‘magical bowls’.
They also serve up Singapore’s first mushroom & adaptogen specialty coffee, açaí, chia & coconut yoghurt bowls and thick smoothies, revolving around plant-based wellness.
The Smoothie Art Bowls coming at a price of $24, is good for 2 persons and requires a 20 minutes preparation time.
If you wonder about the pricing, at least it comes with a pot of Floral Tea with choices of Alpina, Aloe Verah, Calming Spirit, Lychee Black and Orchid Oolong.
Their açaí bowls are blended only with organic açaí pulp (only natural ingredients, no sugar coating), and this pulp can also be found in their Starry Galaxy Art Bowl ($24).
The base also contains pink pitaya, dairy-free coconut yoghurt, chocolate oatmilk chia pudding, and Japanese bamboo charcoal powder (for the colour); along with maple granola, organic raw cacao nibs, sprinkles, edible silver icing spray and star-shaped bananas.
I had the Beach Paradise ($24), and it was almost a perk-me-up upon seeing it for real – especially when you only see ‘instagrammable’ photos around and wonder what a normal customer would get.
A blueberry, blue spirulina powder and coconut yoghurt blend form the base; while maple granola, organic raw cacao nibs, feuilletine and sprinkles make up the ‘sand’.
I have to say that the base itself was indeed thick, smooth, healthily-delicious and quite filling.
My main qualm was those ‘nonpareils’ – little coloured balls which were very hard, and so I ended up picking them out, or accidentally crushing them with my molars.
This is a not-bad spot in the heart of town especially if you are a fan of açaí bowls. Perhaps it needs more visibility.
