Do you know that ‘Sun’ represents the main dishes, while ‘Moon’ appeals to the other and softer side – the desserts?
The Japanese fare created by Executive Chef Toshio Sawai offered here is quite extensive, from Sun Original Kamameshi, Bento sets, Kobachi, Sushi, Sashimi, Washoku combinations, to Steak dishes.
Always leave space for the desserts, with Matcha Tiramisu ($7.80), Kurogoma Pudding ($5.80) and Sun’s Tofu Cheese Cake ($6.80) being its evergreen favourites.

One of the latest additions to Wheelock Place, you would find many enjoying the alfresco all-day dining at Privé, as it faces the crossroads of the busy Orchard & Scotts Road junction.
To people-watch, and to be watched. Singapore can get rather hot, and it’s kind of cooling to rest there after shopping, sipping on Strawberry Iced Tea or something. No?
The hearty menu features burgers, pastas, sandwiches, desserts, bar snacks, but hey, there are actually some local favourites there such as Seafood Laksa ($16), Singapore Traditional Curry Chicken ($16), and Hainanese Chicken Rice ($17) – off free-roaming chicken, fragrant jasmine rice, chicken broth, and trio accompaniments of housemade chilli, ginger, dark soya sauce.

Casual quick-service concept NamNam Noodle Bar serves up a variety of noodles, including Vietnam’s famous Hanoi Pho with options of Pho Chicken ($9.00), Pho Australian Beef Steak Slices ($10.00), Vegetarian with brown rice noodles ($9.00) and Australian beef combination ($11.50).
Broths are boiled over 24 hours, garnished with freshly chopped herbs, with no added MSG.

Very good deal. Few would know that Nam Nam offers a “Good Morning Singapore” value breakfast set – offering choice of any Bánh Mì or piping hot bowl of Pho with a Vietnamese coffee or lotus tea for $5.90 nett and $6.90 nett respectively. The usual prices are $13.00 and $16.00.

For brunch lovers, you can go for the All Day Breakfasts which includes the popular Truffled Eggs Benny ($18.00) served on home-made brioche buns, freshly-made Wild Blueberry Pancakes ($14.00), as well as a Super Acai Bowl ($11.00) made with acai berry, yoghurt topped with superfoods granola and goji berries.
Good to know that Cedele also cater to those with special dietary preferences – vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free.
Signature Food – Mixed Mushroom Garlic Tossed Rice, Lemongrass Fish Pasta
I was told that the Lemongrass Fish Pasta is popular among lunch-goers at Wheelock Place, because it is light on the palate yet makes a satisfying protein-heavy meal.
Topped on the wholemeal linguine was white seabass, flavoured with lemongrass lime dressing and tomato salsa, accompanied by edamame, rocket leaves, and sprouts.
I was also intrigued by the organic blackberry rice used in the Mixed Mushroom Garlic Tossed Rice ($18.00). Accordingly, black rice offers comparable health benefits of brown rice, but also packed with anthocyanin antioxidants found in blueberries or blackberries. Taste wise, the rice was nuttier and had a chew and resembles the texture of wholegrain rather than fluffy white rice but the added poached egg helped to balance it off.

American coffee chain with new beverages and local delights
Starbucks has just introduced new beverages of Acai Mixed Berry Yogurt Frappuccino and Granola Dark Mocha Frappuccino.
The former is made up of tangy yogurt that’s been infused with Acai berries. For the chocolate-lovers, the Granola Dark Mocha Frappuccino is Coffee Frappuccino blended with dark chocolate sauce and hearty cereal. Can be sweet and filling.
Signature Food – New Local Delights
Looks like incorporating local elements into food is becoming a trendy thing. For savouries, the Starbucks special is the Otah Otah Frittata Croissant Sandwich – savory fish otah and egg omelette sandwiched between soft baguette.
The sweets look promising, combination favourites of the old-school days with modern cakes. That includes Horlicks White Chocolate Cake, Ovaltine Chocolate Cake, Pulut Hitam Cake, and Ondeh Ondeh Gula Melaka Cake – gula melaka sits between layers of pandan sponge cake, sprinkled with coconut flakes.
