Geometry – Gelato On Tart With Salted Caramel Floss, Ice Cream Café Next to ABC Market

It felt like a Mathematics lesson on “Geometry” when owners Shuxian and Jeslyn named their newest ice cream cafe as such due to the formulas and equations needed to create their gelatos. (Who remembers √(x2 – x1)² + (y2 – y1)² + (z2 -z1)²?)

Sounds cheem because Shuxian, who majored in Mathematics, gave up her teaching career to pursue her dream of opening a café with her childhood friend, Jeslyn.

The word “Geometry” also symbolizes everything about the pair of godsisters – from the close relationship we share with each other, to the dreams they build together.

One of those stories that we often hear, but many do not dare to take that plunge.

Geometry reminded us of nearby Ice Cream Shack at Bt Merah Central and Creamier at Toa Payoh.

Similar ice cream cafes located in the heartland estates, serving homemade ice cream and waffles, with limited space of 20 or so seats, with a playground near their doorsteps.

With a total of 18 flavours to choose from, expect interesting flavours such as Earl Grey Tie Guan Yin, Mandarin Orange Sorbet and Watermelon Lychee Sorbet.

75% of the flavours were classified under “Premium” flavours at an additional $0.70 per scoop due to the fresh fruits added.

A single scoop will cost $3.20, double scoops at $5.50 and $2.50 for subsequent scoops.

For a takeaway tub of 650ml, the standard flavour will cost $13 and premium flavour at $17.

We had a scoop of Bing Bong (not Ping Pong) which resembled that of childhood Paddlepop ice cream on a cone (additional $0.80)

The gelato was smooth and milky, though slightly on the sweeter side.

3 bases were available as a base with a single scoop of gelato: Tart ($9.90), Belgian Waffle ($8.50) and Brownie ($8.90).

We had the former with a single scoop of Pistachio. Fragrant and nutty, but a tad sweet.

So instead of the typical waffles, a tart base is something different.

The French tarts were freshly baked and served warm (though I wished can be warmer). Its base had a contrasting chewy centre, buttery fragrance, and taste that resembled that of a cross between almond tart and Taiwanese pineapple tart.

The tart came with a bling bling wig look-alike candy floss on top of the gelato, made up of salted caramel.

We are happy with the option of hopping over for gelato and coffee after a meal at ABC Market. But Geometry may require more than ice cream on tart to differentiation, I mean differentiate.
