An interesting aspect of the newly released Singapore’s Michelin Bib Gourmand List 2021 is the high proportion of new hawker entrants located at Jurong.

From Yuhua Village Market and Food Centre, there are 3 stalls on the list – Fei Fei Roasted Noodle, Heng Heng Cooked Food, and Lai Heng Handmade Teochew Kueh.

Zai Shun Curry Fish Head at Jurong East is also a short walk away.

As for Fei Fei Roasted • Noodle 肥肥烧腊 · 云吞面, this Wanton Noodle stall at Jurong East is just opened for a few hours a day, and they are always sold out before closing times.

Also, do not confuse this stall with the other “Fei Fei” at Joo Chiat, or “Xin Fei Fei” at Zion Road Food Centre.

So, you can just imagine the long queues every morning (except Sundays when they are closed).

Johor Kaki was actually the one who recommended me this stall.

“Soft al dente, angel hair eggy noodles, aromatic tasty sauce laced with savoury sweet roasted char siew drippings, chunky tender charcoal roasted marbled 半肥 char siew, anchovy based broth, and wantons with fresh shrimps all for $3.00 a set.

“I have been eating at this stall long before I was a blogger. We used to come here every Sunday for brunch after 2 hours climbing Bukit Timah hill. Gladly struggled to find a car park lot and then stood and queued for up to an 1 hour sweaty and tired just to get our weekly fix.”

The stall serves up Wanton Noodles ($3), Dumpling Noodles ($3), Roast Pork Noodles ($3), Roast Duck Noodles ($3), Pork Rib Noodles ($3), Chicken Feet Noodles ($3.50), Char Siew Rice ($3), to combination of Char Siew and Duck Rice ($4).

The stall manages to get two components of the Wanton Noodles ($3) very right – the char siew and noodles.

At least to me, the thick slices of tender roast pork is the winning element here.

The roast meats sold here are still roasted by charcoal in the wee hours of the morning, giving the outer layer that nice char and sweet caramelisation.

Noodles were thin and springy, and wantons quite ‘plumply’-wrapped (for that price) with fresh minced meat and prawn paste.
