Looking for places in Singapore to hang out for supper?

Many restaurants at Jewel Changi Airport is opened after mid-night, and Beauty In The Pot promises 12 hotpot till 6AM in the morning (last order 4:30am).

Also, good to know that Beauty In The Pot is the only hotpot restaurant at Jewel Changi Airport.

It is located at a corner unit at basement 2. Look out for Lim Chee Guan (now you know), then Subway.

Unlike some of the other branches are decorated in pink, this outlet has a primary white, brass and Tiffany blue colour scheme.

The interior is done up art deco style, like a “jewel box” which represents luxury, glamour, and romanticism.

Other to some of the hotpot restaurants which are noisier and energetic, I think this is a place with high enough ceilings and space for group outing conversations. (Tip: If you got a friend who has a birthday, the staff would come around singing the birthday song in different languages. See if your friend scared malu or not.)

There are six different nourishing soup bases with rich flavours and nutritional benefits, including Signature Beauty Collagen Broth, Vitamin C Tomato Sweet Corn Broth, Signature Spicy Nourishing Soup (Pork Bone Soup), Herbal Drunken Chicken Broth, and Cooling Coconut Broth.

Diners can choose between a single pot, twin pot or a quart pot. The price of a single pot starts from $14; a quart pot starts from $5 each.

Whether you are picking a twin or quart, one of the soups should contain the Beauty Collagen Broth, since it IS the signature and tastiest of the lot.

Just a note that the broth used to be shark collagen, but it has been replaced with a concoction of pork trotter, chicken feet, compoy, chicken and pork bones. I would personally prefer the older version, but this makes a worthy replacement with its semi-thick, creamy and nourishing flavours.

To be honest, the first few mouthfuls are always the best, till it gets diluted upon refills.

The Spicy Nourishing Soup is NOT a “mala” broth, so it doesn’t provide that numbing feeling on the tongue. Still moderately spicy, not as greasy, and makes a good complement to the collagen.

We all thought the Mushroom Soup needed some added ingredients (like meats) to make it richer and more flavourful, as it started out slightly diluted.

The Cooling Coconut Broth left us divided. Some liked its unique, refreshing touch; while others thought a mildly sweet hotpot soup was weird. I thought it paired well with chicken meat and the Fish Tofu.

Beauty in The Pot offers a variety of fresh ingredients ranging from meat and seafood to vegetables and noodles. All the meatballs, meat paste and dumplings are handmade.

Some of the must-try items include the melt-in-your-mouth Signature Homemade Fish Tofu ($13.20), Ebiko Prawn Paste ($18.80), Assorted Balls Platter ($12.80), and Fried Beancurd Skin ($10.00).

The Fried Beancurd Skin is supposed to be dipped into the broth for 3 seconds – nothing more, nothing less. If you are sceptical about the short period of time, try it anyway, no harm.

For the Jewel Changi Airport outlet, there is a dedicated luggage area and a children’s playground.
